Do not allow HORO to SCOPE you!

Have you noticed the new addiction in cyberspace? It’s the horoscope!  Years ago, you could have bet people just read those things in the Vanguard, Daily Times, Concord (what happened to these papers BTW? Gist for another day) laughed at them and moved on!
It’s quite different these days, not a few people now make it a/an daily hourly ritual to find out what the sun/moon is saying about their lives! Correct me if I’m wrong but since when did we become planet watchers, psychics and astrologers?
Before you argue about how right or wrong the predictions are, have you looked around  long enough to find out that as different as our DNAs are there are behavioural similarities we exhibit as we cohabit together either as family members, friends or even colleagues?
Similarities in our morals/belief systems; cutting across tribes and religions? Certain things happen based on pure coincidence. If I detest boastful people and you do too, it’s probably because we were brought up to understand the benefits of humility, why then would you sing praises to the astrologer who says it’s because you’re a Gemini or an Aquarius? For some of you who took psychology classes or even those who read Tim LaHaye’s ‘Why you act the way you do’ didn’t you deduce that the temperaments have features that cut across one another? Hence, the fact that you’re Sanguine doesn’t make you less of an ambitious person! Aren’t those temperaments actually developed through a combination of family background, upbringing, education, exposure etc? Why then do some people look to the moon and stars for instructions on how to live?

Young lady, that guy’s got a bright future not to talk of being TDH + more; why wouldn’t you date him? Ohhhhhh, Cancer moon opposes Pluto hence your Aries body can’t mix with a Pisces loving? #EpicFail! When your younger sister’s last child starts calling you grandma, the mist would clear from your glasses eye!

Let’s not get carried away by the tides of foolishness, if you must read those things, do, for the fun of it, don’t let them dictate what you can achieve or who you are; afterall you and I can cook up stories inspired by the many Hollywood movies we’ve seen. Live, don’t just exist and stop allowing ‘horo’ to ‘scope’ you (if you know what I mean)!
Finally, Librans like to make money, fall in love and live happily ever after! *yinmu* who doesn’t?!

The Librans can so deceive themselves... horo has been scoping those one for a very long time.

Funny, our culture beliefs also after our thinking. An Indian reading this might find it offensive. Why because, they depend on horoscopes to find life partners, to plan important events in their lives such as weddings and all...

Really? I didnt know that bit about Indians. Guess there's a lot to learn then! I wrote completely from the average Nigerian point of view! Hopefully someone would explainsome other reasons why Nigerians are suddenly becoming obsessed! Thanks for the enlightenment.

Lol @ what the HORO has been saying about Librans. Don't mind this astrological signs. When I see them in newspapers and mags, I just flip through and laugh.

Thank you jare correct person. Tell them o. There are some people I know, instead of reading their bibles and checking what God has to say about them, its horo they keep scoping all about. Life would move past a lot of people and by the time they wake up from the scope, it'd be too late.

God bless you for this truth!

I used to read those things religiously because an aunt of mine who studied psychology said most of it were true, but when i moved to dublin to do my masters i met someone who said her father was a witch doctor and she knew incantations that could tell me about a person by lookin at them, i got scared adn found my way to church quickly unlike back home where they beg me to attennd serv ice. i think these things are fetish and indians are known for servicng all kinds of images so im not surprised they look at horoscope to presict their future spouse.

The truth is people have different belief system and depend on various things.I for one think astrology is crap, though their summarized version of the star signs' behavioral pattern really makes sense (talking from experience). The thing is,some things make sense in horoscope, while some are just hogwash.I don't fall for the predictions, daily, monthly or whatever,it's one definition of trash!

am sorry i have to differ here, i agree with a naija great, the horoscope are quite accurate as per behavioral patterns they are kind of like the four temperaments ie sanguine and what have you ..that being said i never check my horoscope, my life is in Gods hands and God only, but they are useful tools for checking why you act they way you do, i did a research on them after getting into an argument with someone, i told him it was demonic and he challenged me to study about it ... i did..there is so much that i discovered, but i will just stop here, i never check my horoscope o..just saying!

Che: I think the predictions are more outrageous for Aquarius and Gemini!

LDP: It just struck me recently that too many people are getting addicted

Okeoghene: Yes, a lot of people DO!

there was a time I was always checking mine out just out of boredom and maybe defiance. But most times its never correct. And really who wants to put their destiny into the hands of something so unpredictable? Not me o. Abeg na God o anytime any day

I don't believe in astrology, have never believed in it and never will. However, if other people want to believe in it and if it works for them goodluck to them.

Some Believe in astrology and depend on it,but others don`t. Our environment and up bringing plays a major role in things we do..I read mine when i stumble upon it but just for the fun of it.

I loved reading the horo-foolishness when as a teen. But noticed early that they were often repeated...plus when i was scoped that i'll meet my true love that week, guy no show up so i boned them.

I think Facebook is helping to revive the addiction..I've noticed the application on some pple's pages.
